NE ZHA 2 ANIMATION HAS BECOME THE HIGHEST-GROSSING ANIMATED FILM IN HISTORY SURPASSING INSIDE OUT 2
The Ne Zha 2 animation continues to break records, reaching a total gross of $1.69 billion with a $275.3 million weekend
This animation not only remained at the top of the charts, but also set a new sales record for IMAX cinemas. “Ne Zha 2” grossed $22 million in Chinese IMAX cinemas over the weekend, a 21% increase from the previous week. Now, this film has grossed $106 million in IMAX cinemas alone, becoming the highest-grossing film ever screened in Chinese IMAX cinemas, surpassing “Avengers: Endgame” ($83.5 million). Globally, this animation has also become the sixteenth title to gross more than $100 million in IMAX cinemas
This $22 million gross in IMAX cinemas made this animation the third highest-grossing third weekend in these cinemas, after “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avatar: The Way of Water.” Of course, these two films reached this figure by screening in 80 countries around the world
Ne Zha 2 first surpassed the live-action “The Lion King” and entered the top ten highest-grossing films in history. It was then time to surpass “Inside Out 2” as the highest-grossing animated film in history, which it also successfully accomplished. But this is just the beginning for this animation, as it continues to sell and aims to reach a $2 billion gross
In the second place of the Chinese box office was the film “Detective Chinatown 1900” with a $26 million gross, bringing its total to $443.8 million
Marvel Studios also shared in the Chinese box office, with the release of “Captain America: Brave New World” grossing $10.6 million
The animations “Boonie Bears: Future Reborn” and “In the Mood for Love” followed in the Chinese box office, grossing $5.5 million and $4.8 million, respectively
