The story is about a middle-aged man who lives with his son, Khalil, in the city of Mashhad. For reasons unknown, the man’s wife left him and their son in the early years of their marriage. The man, a restaurant owner, serves a Nazri (a votive meal offered to the poor and pilgrims) to the pilgrims of Imam Reza (AS) on weekends

His acceptance into a university in Tehran and his subsequent acquaintance with a woman named Setareh pave the way for Rokhsareh to enter the story
