Sir David Attenborough, the British wildlife documentary legend, made history at the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards. The legendary narrator, at the age of 99, won the “Outstanding Daytime Personality – Non-Daily” award, thereby breaking the record for the oldest winner in Emmy history, which was set last year by Dick Van Dyke
Attenborough secured this award for his narration in the Netflix documentary, Secret Lives of Orangutans
The record for the oldest Daytime Emmy winner was previously held by the famous American actor, Dick Van Dyke. Van Dyke won the award last year at the age of 98 for his guest performance in the daily drama series Days of Our Lives
However, Attenborough, who will turn 100 next May, claimed this record with only a slight age difference, proving that his passion for documenting the wonders of nature knows no bounds
David Attenborough, who is known in the UK as a “National Treasure,” has continued his professional career for over eight decades
Sir David Attenborough is the only person to have won BAFTA Awards in black and white, color, 3D, and 4K resolution formats. This new Emmy record confirms his global significance and enduring legacy in the field of documentary filmmaking
